Central German Multimedia Centre Halle
The Central German Multimedia Centre (MMZ) is located in the heart of the 1,200 year old city of
Halle. It is situated directly along the banks of the Saale River between the historical city
centre and the still young “Neustadt” district. It is the working and production site of over
30 companies, as well as a campus for around 1,000 students studying media and communication
sciences at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The building ceremoniously opened its
doors in 2007 and, since then, has become a sought-after production address for the international
film elite. Spread out over 6,000 m², production, creativity and innovation have come together
under one roof. The Central German Multimedia Centre is instrumental in making Halle a
successful media location that has an impact on the international community. It is the city’s
communication and network hub for creators of media and culture. In addition to office and
work space, it offers space for events and presentations. It is also a suitable place for the
post-production of films with the first and only film sound studio in Central Germany.
Convention space
The Panorama Hall offers impressive views above the roofs of Halle. Conference rooms on
the ground floor can be rented out on a weekly, daily or hourly basis. They can be partitioned
as needed and are suitable for lectures, customer presentations, press conferences or
meetings. All of the rooms are equipped with the latest presentation and event technology.
A spacious reception area and foyer on the ground floor of the Central German Multimedia
Centre is also an excellent space for exhibitions and for displaying information during events.
Cinema
The Kubus offers a large cinema with 117 seats and ample event space. Temporary
exhibits and film premieres mean there is a formidable and multi-faceted cultural programme for
visitors, not only from the industry.
Film sound studio
Good sound is the decisive factor at the MMZ. As the first and, as of yet, only film sound
studio in Germany, the studio at the Central German Multimedia Centre has received the Dolby
Premier Studio License. Encompassing 200 m², it offers a Harrison Sound Mixer with 240 input
channels capable of revealing the sound mixer’s full potential. In addition to this, there are
two Pro Tools systems, a Harrison XDubber and IKIS technology with film tools. Large-scale
images for big sounds! A 35mm film projector (3perf-ready) and full HD digital projection are
available. These projectors receive their signals either from a bonsaiDRIVE, a
Betacam/Digital Betacam-MAZ or a Quicktime file (Pro Tools)
